The Mind Trick to Become Unstoppable in the Gym…
Mel Robbins’s 5-Second Rule
A few years ago, Mel Robbins took the TEDx stage and talked about how she stopped sabotaging herself. She discussed the 5-Second Rule she had created. Now you can use it to become unstoppable in the gym.
Robbins may have had broader goals in mind when she discussed it, but the 5-Second Rule can be applied to virtually anything. This helps to explain why her talk is now one of the 20 most popular TEDx videos.
The 5-Second Rule to Become Unstoppable in the Gym
According to Robbins, her rule is meant for “hyper-intentionality, action and identifying moments in your life where there is tremendous opportunity and joy.”
It has nothing to do with saving food you’ve dropped on the floor. This five second rule is a plan of action you can use to become unstoppable in the gym and successful in your efforts toward virtually any goal.
It acknowledges that you can know what to do and know why you need to do it and still not succeed. It takes something else to succeed. There is something more than knowing how and why you want to do something. You need motivation and that doesn’t just happen.
The definition of the 5-Second Rule you’ll use to become unstoppable in the gym has to do with impulse and action. It states that once you have the impulse to act on a goal, you need to physically move within 5 seconds of that impulse or the idea will wither.
Power Through Your Workout with the 5-Second Rule
If you have a goal of getting into shape, you need to act the next time you decide on a fitness program. Don’t wait until later to do it. Act right away. Soon enough, you’ll become unstoppable in the gym.
If you don’t know what your fitness program is but you know you want to get fit, start researching right away. If you can’t do it on your own, set up an appointment with a personal trainer. Do it right away and keep that appointment.
Similarly, if you want to lose weight, start looking into meal options that will suit your nutrition strategy. Set daily reminders that will tell you that it’s gym time!
