I’m Dreaming of a Warm Christmas…In Mexico!

As much as I love the image of a white Christmas and I love the thought of being at home to visit with my family, I’m doing things differently this year. I’m so excited that I had to tell you about it.

After all, while I might like the look of white Christmases, I can’t say I love having to bundle up to face them. I’m not wild about wondering what kind of storm I’ll be driving through on the way to parties and gatherings. I’m not interested in being frustrated with myself while I say that I’m taking time off and yet still repeatedly check my email and phone so that I can know for sure that there isn’t anything there that I need to see.

So I’m headed to Mexico this year! Me and my three besties are going to bask in warm weather. We’re going to treat ourselves to a luxurious stay at a stunning Sayurit Mexican villa for two full weeks. I can’t wait to get going. I can’t stand temperatures below 75ºF so it will be a treat for both my body and mind. I’ve already promised myself that my phone is being shut off. I’ll use it for emergencies only.

The beach villa where we’ll be staying has stunning ocean views from not one, not two, but three sides! No fighting over the “best” room. We’ll all have gorgeous scenery to enjoy and the sound of the waves to put us to sleep at night – for what I’m hoping will be some of the best sleep of my life.

I feel that this type of escape isn’t just fun. It’s healthy. Unplugging and treating all the body’s senses to relaxation and fun over several consecutive days is one of the best ways to fully recharge and recover from life.

While we’re there, as much as we want to have lots of fun, we’re going to eat well and healthfully. To start, we’re taking advantage of our villa’s meal plan. It costs a bit more but it means that we’ll have our own private chef who will come by to stock our fridge with snacks and drinks and we’ll have two main meals prepared per day, to be eaten whenever we want. We’ll likely eat at the villa for breakfast in the mornings, but it gives us the chance to check out some of the beachside seafood places we’ve read about for lunch or dinner. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I plan to keep up my fitness routine the whole time. I think it will be incredible to start my day every morning with a light breakfast followed by a workout on the beach to get my blood flowing and energy up. By keeping up mainly healthy eating and regular exercise, I’ll get the most out of my relaxation because I won’t feel like I need to recover from my vacation once I come home again.

Sure, I’m not going to hold myself back from trying new things and from lots of treats – and possibly lots of margaritas – but overall, I’m going to treat myself just as well as I would if I were at home.
